Te Wairemana Mohi
Anne Smith or Te Wairemana Mohi is the youngest daughter of Rui Kakara and Mohi Toma. She was raised by Reuben and Werenia Toma. She was born around 1920 - 1923. She has a whangai sister, Wiki Hall, who was also a whangai to Reuben and Werenia. She currently lives in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia.
In December 2007 mum and I had the priviledge of meeting nanny Wairemana at her rest home in Coffs Harbour. Her memory is fading now but she still recalls life in both Te Teko and Poroporo.

Magzie is currently living in Sydney, Australia. She get's 'mokemoke' for home... but has lots of nephew's and niece's to keep her company.
I've been in oz for just over 10 years but managed to come home for a proper kai nearly every year. Its nice to come back to green grass and the tamaheihei for an alarm clock. Sydney is a great place to live, 24/7 action, never a dull moment, but you don't have to live the fast paced life, just do what I do and chill with whanau and friends. The whanau here are doing really well, working hard, eating healthy and keeping in touch (well most times - lol).
After all these years, you'd think the homesickness would've passed, but nah it hasn't yet. Each year I've been home, I've contemplated about staying, but reality kicks in and I go back in amongst the concrete and work hard again. I'm lucky my parents have been to oz and they've seen how it is and they understand its about putting in the hard yards and being happy. I can't put a timeframe on returning home for good, but I beta stop saying 'soon' aye cuz - lol.
