Marae minutes (Saturday 17 May 2008):
All agreed that the marae meeting minutes from the 17 May 2008 will be left for a later date – Today’s focus will be on the nomination process and electing nominations for the position of trustees for Te Wai-iti Marae.

The whanau and hapu of Ngati Kuri wish to set the number of trustees to five.

Example of electing marae trustees:
The Uwhiārae marae which has a strong connection to Te Wai-iti marae also held an election process meeting. There goal was to re-elect marae trustees for the Uwhiarae. There new trustees are as followed:

NB:
These minutes also notes that prior to the hapu meeting today, we were fortunate to have Maori Land Court Advisor Rex Turiokahu White attend prior to lunch to give a presentation of the Maori Land Court process, as well as explaining the Act and the various Regulation pertaining to the Act. Included was a overview of Trustee responsibilities and roles, which was warmly received by the Hapu. Rex left immediately after lunch, after which the Hapu proceeded with its hui to appoint Trustees.
In addition, Mr White also invited those who are appointed Trustees that he with the support of Hinepukohurangi Trust, Ruatahuna will be holding an indepth workshop on the Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees, be it Marae, Land Trusts etc, at Mataatua Marae, Ruatahuna, Thursday 16 July 2008. It would be in the interest of those new Trustees to attend this workshop.
