Te Kauri Nominations Meeting:

On Sunday 21st September, at 1.00pm elections for Te Kauhanganui were held on Te Kauri Marae. The attendance was not large in numbers but to those whanau that did attend their support was much appreciated. The hui was attended by Moira Solomon from Hopuhopu and the hui was adjudicated by our own member Mr Dave Thompson in the presence of the Chairman Mr Clarence Berryman.The hui was opened with a mihimihi by Mr Tom Noda and the karakia was offered by Heta Rotana (Clark).Dave Thompson thanked all those that were present and then opened the floor for Nominations.

Dave called for Nominations for Rangatahi Representative their was only one nomination that was well endorsed by the majority at the hui. The nomination was carried and our Rangatahi Representative to Te Kauhanganui is Patara Berryman

The Rangatahi representative will reflex the vibrant robust strength and future of the marae.

The Hui then moved to ask for nominations for Marae Representative, just like the Rangatahi Representative their was only one name nominated this was supported and endorsed by the attendance, the successful representative to the Te Kauhanganui is Leon Wharekura

The Marae representative will demonstrate the high calibre of different skills, talents and qualities that they can contribute to the future development of Te Kauri Marae and ensure that their is sufficient dialogue no matter the scenario

The last and final nomination was for Kaumatua Representative, again like the two nominations before their was only one nomination for this position, nominations were closed and the successful Kaumatua representaive to the Te Kauhanganui is Hone Tarawhiti

•  Kaumatua Representative - Hone Tarawhiti.

The Kaumatua representative will ensure that the Marae protocols and historical significance of the marae is parallel with the over all vision of Tainui.

The hui was successful and achieved the main objective without any interuption. At the end of the nominations all three Representatives were invited to present a five minute explaination about their new roles and responsibilities and how their personal qualities can enhance the marae and the descendants of Te Kauri Marae. Once the presentations were finished all three were congratulated and the hui was closed with Karakia by Mr Keritoke Noda.
