What is the Papatoa Forestry Programme?

One of Aotearoa's leading forestry training providers, Papatoa works with logging contractors throughout the North Island.  Papatoa provides professional training to 'keen, energetic, dedicated and hard-working' students interestin a career in forestry.

A practical programme, Papatoa gives you an opportunity to gain 'hands-on' training in all aspects of forest harvesting.  All students are provided with their own chainsaw pack and vital safety equipment to start them on their journey.

The Certificate course is broken into compulsory and elective elements.  The compulsory elements are essential to cable logging however the electives allow for students to specialise in certain areas of interest.

How does Te Kauri Marae fit?

Papatoa Forestry is leasing our Marae facilities for their Huntly Branch -

This gives Te Kauri Marae firsthand experience on what is needed to set up our own training and educational facilities.  We are working towards building a quality education centre to host a variety of different training programmes to better serve our whanau.

What are the benefits for Te Kauri Marae Whanau?

Being based here within our Marae means that our own whanau can utilise the programme.   Just around the corner from home, whanau can upskill and gain the necessary training and qualifications to start an exciting and rewarding career in forestry.

Papatoa Forestry are utilising our facilities under a lease agreement.  This means an income for our Marae much needed putea to go towards our different programmes and developments currently in progress and new projects for the future.
