Website Development

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This website is a living extension of our marae, Taumata o te ra. It is an opportunity for us to maintain contact with our many whanau members who have moved away from the marae, whether it be throughout Aotearoa New Zealand or overseas. The decision to expose our marae and our history to the world was not taken lightly and we will continue to approach it with caution. We do understand however that the digital world has changed everything in our lives today - the way we work, play and live. It has enhanced the way we communicate with each other and using this website as a tool, we hope to break down some of those barriers to our ‘whakawhanaungatanga'. Whanau across the globe can now feel a part of the marae community and together we can share news and events, stories, photos and much more. | ![]() |
Under construction is the common term used when work is still in progress and this website will be no different as we take the time to find the appropriate content. Each time you visit our website there will be new content including news updates and stories about what is happening with our whanau and hapu. You will no doubt come up with ideas to improve or add to this site, or things that need to be changed so please don't keep those to yourself - contact us. All things can change as we learn to understand the potential of our new taonga.
Taumata o te ra marae online belongs to us!
The most important thing about our new website is everything on it and within it belongs to us!It is a reflection on our marae, our hapu and our whanau and life is breathed into the site each time we participate. This participation is asked of everyone, no matter where you live or how old you are. We would like you to contribute stories about your kaumatua, your memories, your photos so we can continue to grow as a whanau and as a hapu. And that's just the beginning! The more you contribute, the greater our Marae Cultural Capital.
Marae Cultural CapitalOur cultural capital is the combination of our whanau experiences, knowledge and the connections we all have that together strengthens and adds value to our whanau worldwide and ultimately our hapu and our marae. Everytime we contribute, we participate, we interact and grow as a whanau we build our capital. For Taumata o te ra, this interacting, communicating and contributing is vital for our survival. During the construction stages of our marae there were so many whanau involved which brought life to our hapu. We can continue to do this through our website.
Using this site is a powerful way of transmitting aspects of culture, heritage and identity to our future generations and those that have moved away from home. This also gives them the platform to contribute back to us. In doing this - we will forever uphold the statement "E kore au e ngaro, he kakano i ruia mai i Rangiatea" (I will never be lost for I am a seed grown from Rangiatea)
Taumata o te ra Website Content ManagersCurrently we have three Website Content Managers who are responsible for developing and maintaining our website. They are Jerald Twomey, Jessica Kereama-Stevenson and Dylan Kiriona. If you have any questions or would like to assist then email us. We will be happy to help you.
