ONCE AGAIN WE APOLOGISE FOR THE LATE ISSUE
Recent deaths Wirene Tairua, Adelaide Cherrington, Eileen Luisi we express our sympathies to all the whanau and for those who do not know Eileen, she was the sister-in-law to Jack and niece to the late Jim Poasa.
Whats happened in the past 3 weeks:
Kapa haka has upped their practices from fortnightly to weekly and those that have popped in to listen have expressed their enjoyment and are beginning to voice their support.
The seniors were beaten in their semi finals game against Whangaruru.
The Market Day was a success despite the inclement weather.
Rain Rain Rain!!!!
Its school holidays again and the rain makes it difficult to plan things to do. Whanau end up making do with home entertainment which is great if watching tv and coloring in is what children like to do. What would be nice is if a sport event could be held on the lawn of the marae or in the dining room, even the hardcourt at the school could be a place for children to do something. These events do not need to be long and drawn out, an hour would be enough lets do something. Watch the notice boards on the corner something may come up.
SCHOOL TRIP TO AUCKLAND
Te Horo School have, for the past three months been fundraising for a 4 day trip to Auckland in September which will include excursions to Rangitoto Island (soil study), Kelly Tarltons Undersea World (marine study), Museum of Technology (transport study), Auckland Zoo (animal and its habitat study), and Rainbows End a treat for the children. This trip will be for the whole school and the more money that is raised will mean that families will pay less for their children. Any donations, suggestions of help are more than welcome.

Our seniors were just awesome ending on a high note winning against Waimarie.
Score 58-3 with the whole team getting player of the day...
This weekend is Semi Finals where and who we are playing is yet to be confirmed.
Last Saturday Pipiwai Rugby Club hosted all 3 junior rugby games and the support was outstanding. Who won or lost did not matter but the way our juniors behaved on and off the field was exemplary as they mingled with members of the visiting teams Parents were invited to complementary cups of teas and the sausage sizzle and maori burgers were popular as ever. A big thank you to Rongomau and her team for helping to fundraise for Te Horo school who head off to Auckland in September and congratulations to the club for the successful day.

Hi Jack,
Sorry i haven't got back to you earlier.. I have been on holiday....
Pipiwai played Whangaruru on the 4th July in a Minor Semi Final game. Pipiwai needed to win to stay in the Competition but sadly went down to Whangaruru 11-6. But as Captain Ben Livingstone said at the speeches in our hearts we won that game. It was such an awesome game to watch as it was a big improvement from the last time Pipiwai played Whangaruru. Pipiwai's defensive play was outstanding with Whangaruru scoring their only try of the game in the first 2 mins. Pipiwai held on to the end but just couldn't put the points on the board.
Players of the days were Pipiwai's Seniors Manager and Coach Deanna Paul and Chris Bristowe.
Sadly that was the last game for us and look forward to what next year brings us.
ALSO PIPIWAI'S SENIORS PRIZEGIVING SOCIAL IS HAPPENING ON THE 1ST OF AUGUST WITH THE THEME BEING THE 60s.....
Thanks Jack.

PIPIWAIS MARKET DAY
On a rainy July day the Komiti Wahine o Tau Henare held their Market Day to help raise money for the marae. However, Te Horo School were donated a whole truckload of furniture and were all put up for sale.
Te Komiti Wahine o Tau Henare would like to thank all the workers and the entire community for their total participation in another successful outcome. A special thanks to our Auctioneer, the old Mr Daniels also the young Mr Tohu, whom handled the cash flow and total control of all the finances of this eventful day. Thank you to the Te Horo School Fundraising Committee and all stall holders for their contribution fee to Te Komiti Wahine and all donated takings from whanau stalls.
Unfortunately the weather made it difficult to hold the whole event at the marae and the furniture was sold at the school while the bric-a-brac and cooked food was housed at the whare kai. If the bad weather was a problem then the success of the day was nothing short of impressive, with the cake auction, raffles, kai and good old whanau catch up and gossip all contributing to the grand totals of:
$1,700.00 for the marae
$736.00 for the school
These were 2 excellent reasons for the community to come together, and come together they did. The best and most important part was seeing people from Pipiwai enjoying each others company and recalling the days when this was a part of their lives as youngsters many years ago. Some of these same people probably felt that something like these events may never happen again but it really is worth trying. During the cake auction the most mentioned comments were about how Rito and Bolan were big bidders at these types of events and that Ritos spirit was still around. In all it was a great day, ask anyone that was there.
