Hui
We are looking to have a hui where everyone can come together and korero/wananga around issues affecting the future of our whanau here in Pipiwai. A Hui that will bring all those who whakapapa to the Marae and have aspirations for a prosperous future. In 2008 Nga Tau E Toru celebrated 25yrs of existence, as Chairperson at the time it was an amazing experience to witness the many people that kohanga had influenced positively over the years. It became apparent that we celebrated a milestone in our community and that it is worth spending time planning the next 25yrs to come. Concerns around who our current kaumatua are in the valley, Kai karanga and stalwarts etc. and who are following behind to take thier place. Are we prepared for those changes? In what way? Do we need to be? Many questions which may be common with others who live here and who dont for different reasons. If we dont begin making some of these issues a priority for ourselves then who will. As a mother living and
raising a family in Pipiwai I wnat the best for my kids and I wonder how many other mums and whanau like me feel the same way. I'd like to organise a Hui for August where we can all come together. With the help of others who are experienced in this sort of thing and those who are keen to see this take off perhaps a strategy or plan for the immediate future can be developed. I dont expect it will happen in one night but it would be a good start. I appreciate your thoughts or assistance in any way and look forward to hearing from you soon. Regards Layla
