The 200 Club

<!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->  New grass and shelters

To all Whanau and supporters of Rongomaraeroa Marae.

We, the current Marae Committee, like many before us, are charged with the task of managing the maintenance, refurbishment, replacement and financing of the marae buildings and equipment.  This we do on little more than a shoestring to put it mildly, and the shoestring gets shorter every year.

The income we currently receive falls well short of our basic every day running costs and we need to address this problem – the marae needs regular reliable income.

Our aim is to sign up 200 willing people to a monthly commitment of $5.00 per person (more if you like ) which will then produce an income of $ 1000.00 per month which we would use for general marae operations.  The big things will come via grants, other fundraising ideas etc and are currently being worked on.

Ahuriri and myself will start the ball rolling and pledge $10.00 per month starting now. We also have several commitments from other attendees of our meeting held on Sunday 29th September.

For those wishing to follow suit our marae account details are as follows:

Rongomaraeroa Marae Committee

Westpac Waipukurau account no: 030779 0133949 00

If you have visited the marae recently, see DIY Marae pictures or visited our website http://www.naumaiplace.com/site/rongomaraeroa-marae/home/welcome/, you will have seen a marked improvement to the exterior of some of the buildings by way of painting and restoration and to the grounds and fences; this is an ongoing project leading to our 100 year celebration.

We are aware that many of you by reason of location or other commitments are unable to participate actively in the daily affairs of the marae and this is one other way to contribute.  We would like you to seriously consider the above donation option in the interests of the marae’s future.  If we can reach our target of 200 people this will seriously take some pressure off the committee and allow them to devote more time to the bigger projects planned.

As part of the club your name will be displayed on a board in the dining room.  Each month new members will be named in the minutes of the meeting and the monthly donation from the 200 club members shown as a total in the financial report.  Automatic payments are the best way to set this up and so long as your name is listed as payee I will pick up from the bank statement.  If someone is paying for a family it would be nice to have an email with names represented and you would need to state the whanau name (or one name) on the bank statement.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any member of the executive committee.  Thank you in anticipation.

Regards

Angela Houkamau (Treasurer)
