He aha te mea nui o te ao...He tangata, he tangata, he tangata...
Kia ora Whanau this exerpt comes to you from our Marae Panui 002/08...dated... 29 Feb 2008
...This time last year we were looking forward to an opening service for our new kitchen extensions... unfortunately things didn't pan out that way. So, in 7 weeks time we remember with sadness that fateful day 11 April 2007, when our marae was razed to the ground.
Since that day we have been overwhelmed by support, advice and koha and the hard work of whanau, whanui skilled and professional that have helped to design, plan, and fundraise in readiness to rebuild our marae...
The latest fundraising venture organised by our whanau at Kohupatiki Marae Saturday 23 February is true testament of the aroha and koha we have received. By all accounts the "Whakahonore" function was lovely, well organised, well supported and "just wonderful" says Nanny Sophie. In fact Nan Sophie and her crew also remained to attend the 'Dancing on the Green' held later that evening (they didn't return to Mohaka till 2am the next morning!)...
To you all...Mei & Wi Rangi Whaitiri and whanau whanui o Kohupatiki Marae we extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation on behalf of the Raupunga Te Huki Marae...
Much of the house keeping tasks for the marae are centred around keeping the books - with our impending Audit coming up at the end of the month and strategic planning for our future roles and responsibilities. To that end an AGM will be held in the near future - date and time to be advised later...
Pou Hono Wananga to start 14 March at Iwitea Marae. To register...if this is the first time you have enrolled in wananga, bring your birth certificate or passport. If you have already registered on a wananga with Te Awanuiarangi then all you will need is your student ID number, please note that you cannot enrol twice for the same kaupapa - in this case "Tangaroa"... An earlier panui sent out indicated Taiwhenua as the kaupapa... this has been postponed to the end of the year... also - Raupunga will cluster with Mohaka, Iwitea, Huramua, Ruataniwha and Te Rauhina for "Tangaroa" so that we can use the same tutor...
until next time.........ka nui tena, noho ora mai koutou
