A big thankyou to all of you that have contributed in some way to the progress made to date all the whare albeit incomplete are looking awesome.

Tiwana Aranui - started our Hui a Iwi with a Karakia

Douglas Putaranui - gave a short mihi whakatau

Apologies noted from Tangiwai Newton, Ed Te Kahika, Sandy Adsett, Ngaire Culshaw, Koea & Henry Pene, Makere and Lena Joe, Anthony Gemmell.

Roger Aranui provided an update on the main issues - funding, building permit, water supply, boundary and opening day.

The committee presented a financial income and expenditure report - Ruku Wainohu the Project manager explained the finances to clarify discrepancies regarding extra costings. The report was accepted and is available for viewing from the Marae Treasurer Nell Adsett.

Fred Niblett gave a verbal report of where we are at...
Lotteries funding - the final application is in and will cover the remaining budgetted costs to complete the buildings - Te Huki wharenui, the attached committee room/office, Pakeke room, Ablutions and plumbers.

Fred approached the Horticultural course tutor to ask for assistance from the course to clear the bank of scrub and weeds - this was completed - giving a clearer idea of the area to be landscaped.

The hui thanked Fred for his report and support further contact with the Horticultural group to assist with the landscaping work.

Time wise - all going to plan and funding received we are looking at 12 weeks minimum to completion.

Extra funding - ($200k) - this will need to be raised to allay the costs incurred for extra drainage, plus pay for carpark, fencing, paths paepae structures and some landscaping work. SO KOHA OF MATERIALS, TIME AND/OR PUTEA WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED...(:) ...

Roger Aranui will follow up other avenues to access funding support through TPK

Roger advised the hui that the boundary issues are being dealt with through the Maori Land Court in conjunction with the marae trustees and neighbouring property trustees.

Tiwana Aranui - spoke to the hui regarding the Opening day programme.

Previous hui have suggested - hau kainga can conduct the early morning ceremony the day before a civic opening ceremony with the rest of the community, hapu and iwi.

The following programme outline to conduct the ceremony in one day was presented for discussion...

5am Karakia/whakatuwheratanga
Logistics support to consider -Area, shelter
-Kai manaaki
-Wet weather contingency
-Communications PA
-Generators

Human Resource for specific tasks from set-up to pack-down and key personnel for the ceremonial tasks. Person in Charge of the whole day needs to be nominated.

Tiwana suggested that a couple of hui with the tikanga/kawa group need to be organised soon to get the programming for the opening started.

Water Supply - there is an offer from the MOH to put in a bore for the Marae - Marae Trustees are following this up. Roger Aranui suggested that any decision needs to be made at the Marae Trustee level re the water supply.

In light of a number of landscaping and external issues Labour Weekend is now suggested as the more appropriate time to open the Marae - all in attendance agreed as this will allow plenty of time for work to be completed and landscaping set in place.

A new chiller will be built onsite just inside the back door of the kitchen.

Roger reiterated the need to work together to realise the completion of the Marae rebuild and asked that whanau support be cultivated i runga i te rangimarie - the best way forward.

Attendees were thanked for their support a tinana ... Tiwana closed our hui with a karakia at 12.45pm.
