Matthew Heke

Kia ora te whanau,
My name is Matthew Amotawa Heke, I am 39 years young and am married with 3 children aged from 7 to 15. I am born and bred in Owhata, my father is Hiwinui Heke, and grandparents are Hohepa Heke and Kataraina Heke (nee Pirika).

I am truly excited about Owhata Marae having our own website, this will allow whanau here and abroad to have somewhere to go to keep in touch with their marae and see what is happening. This is also a great medium to retain our wonderful history and to record the history we make today for our future generations.

As we are in the infancy with our site, all whanau input is greatly appreciated to make this site a huge success and we ask for any photo's (both historic and current), panui to share, enquiries about the site, anything really. Remember whanau if you have visited the site remember to register you and your whanau details.

A big hello to all the whanau. I am very keen to assist with helping members to connect with each other.

Hi, I hope that this site will be widely used as a tool for all members of our Te Roro o te Rangi Whanau to communicate and touch base where ever in the world they might live.

As a content manager I would ask that all whanau members contribute with their stories so that we can update and refresh our site regularly to ensure we have an interesting, informative and vibrant "meeting place" that all members will want to visit regularly.

Tena koutou te whanau .... yes, it's me.
This is a wonderful kaupapa that will allow all our whanau to catch up on the latest news and see how old everyone is looking.

We've adopted a "Keep it simple sonny-boy" approach with regards to managing the content on our marae website. At the moment, we're limited in what we can do, but once we have all the tools available to us .... watch out.

In the meantime, we will try to keep the website as up-to-date as poosible. We also look forward to hearing from you.
