Kelvin Glen Davis of Ngati Manu Hapu and Marae, Karetu. Kelvin with his wife and three children resides in Kaitaia, Far North.

On 5 February 2008 at Ngati Manu Marae, Karetu, Kelvin Davis was confirmed as the Labour Party Candidate to contest the electorate of Te Tai Tokerau in the 2008 general election. It was a proud day for Ngati Manu with the Prime Minister Rt Hon Helen Clark and national media in attendance. This occasion is believed to be the first time Prime Minister had visited Ngati Manu. Kelvin believes he has the vision, skills and attitude to help Maori to achieve beyond their potential.
After being unsuccessful in securing the Tai Tokerau seat for a 2nd time and with close to three years as a politician, Kelvin volunatarily resigned from politics, in Kelvin's own words "that's politics!" Kelvin was under no illusion of the downside of politics and now declares, its time to move forward with my life".
