MISSION STATEMENT

A Marae that is vibrant, well managed and assists with the bringing together of whanau.



WHAT IS NEEDED?

Buildings that are safe, hygienic, easy to maintain and a joy to work or be in:

New Wharekai - (Non-compliant, rat-infested, grey water outlet unhygienic, run down, lack of maintenance, bora, out of date furniture, hard to keep clean, OSH, washing facility, lack of storage etc)

Wharenui Maintenance - (Lack of heating, unsafe seating, back steps unsafe, mattresses ancient, needs mattress storage)

Wharepaku Maintenance - (No storm water drainage, No disabled facilities


WHAT IS NEEDED?

Individuals that demonstrate leadership, are skilled, experienced and capable of facilitating the development, implementation and maintenance of a vibrant Marae

Trustees - (Responsive, too soft, achievable, influential
Maori - (Poor communication, not active, no active project to fundraise, non-communicative, accountable to who?
Wahine - (Number 1 back bone, roles over lap, roles change, no leadership, small group, ageing
3 Committees - (In house issues, not united, fragmented, process of sanctioning)


WHAT IS NEEDED?
A Marae reservation (land) that is operated in an effective and efficient manner for all to enjoy
Actions - (Review the structure of the Marae, wananga on tikanga of the marae

AGM - (Charter, Goals, operating (power, phone, lawns etc, who makes money spending decisions

Motions - (For this model to be a part of the charter



Building Strategies
Buildings that are safe, hygienic, easy to maintain and a joy to work or be in:


Strategies
• Develop Terms of Reference for Project
• Development Job Description for Project Manager
• Draft Project Plan submitted to Trustees for consideration and approval
• Specialists engaged (engineers, planners, etc.)
• Tender documents drafted
• IRD registrations (employer PAYE) filed
• Funding applications drafted
• Visits to other Marae planned for and approved.


People Strategies
Individuals that demonstrate leadership, are skilled, experienced and capable of facilitating the development, implementation and maintenance of a vibrant Marae

Strategies
• Identify skills, experienced, qualifications needed to achieve each strategy
• Apply an assessment and produce a training and development plan
• Submit development plan to trustees for consideration
• Investigate funding assistance for capacity building
• Advertise and promote development planning times and dates
• Implement training and wananga plan
• Evaluate training



Land Strategies
A Marae reservation (land) that is operated in an effective and efficient manner for all to enjoy

Strategies
• Present Draft Strategic Business Plans to beneficiary hui for consideration and endorsement
• Convene hui to review the charter and infrastructure
• Produce Draft Charter and infrastructure to beneficiary hui
• Convene Trustees hui to endorse final charter and infrastructure
• Co-ordinate AGM meeting to present final Plans, Charter and Infrastructure
• Submit to Maori Land Court

and relevant acknowledgements,e.g, funding from Te Runanga A Iwi o NgaPuhi

Trustees will have a completed Draft Strategic & associated Business Plans ready to present at a Beneficiaries Hui

8, 9 Feb Convene hui to discuss and produce draft strategies
29, 30 Feb Convene hui to discuss and produce draft strategies

14, 15 Mar Convene hui to review charter, infrastructure and discuss history of marae

11, 12 April Convene hui to do Project Planning training
25, 26 April Convene Trustees training about roles and responsibilities

9, 10 May Convene Trustees training about roles and responsibilities
24 May AGM
