The Kawiti Glow worm Caves are owned and operated by the Te Tawai me Maata Kawiti Whanau Trust. The caves are found in Waiomio, 5kms south of Kawakawa and they are open from 8.30am to 4.30pm every day of the year.
Several whanau are employed as guides, providing a 30 minute tour and commentary about the history of the cave and the life cycle of the glow worm. Once inside, you will see thousands of glow worms spread across the ceiling surrounded by limestone formations, stalactities and stalagmites. For more info check out www.kawiticaves.co.nz
